BY CAR (From the West)
Take the Mass Turnpike towards Boston and the exit at the Cambridge/Allston exit. After passing through the toll booth, bear right and continue toward Cambridge, through the exit ramp set of lights and cross the Charles River. Continue straight ahead about four blocks (1/2 mile) and you will see a set of lights at a large, busy intersection. The cross street is Mass Ave. A Citizens Bank is on the far left corner and a Starbucks Coffee on the right. Continue straight across Mass Ave. and take a right at the next light (Bishop Allen Drive). Proceed one block straight ahead. #99 is the brick building on the left hand side on the corner of Bishop Allen Drive and Essex Street. There are public parking lots and metered street parking on Bishop Allen Drive.
BY CAR (Via Longfellow Bridge/Kendall Square)
Take the Longfellow Bridge across the Charles River. Where the road forks near Kendall Square, stay right on Broadway. After approximately 3 intersection with traffic lights, you will pass the intersection of Columbia Street. Take the second left after Columbia Street onto Norfolk Street. Go straight through the stop sign at the intersection of Harvard Street and go to the next intersection which is Bishop Allen Drive. Take a right onto Bishop Allen Drive. #99 is the brick building on the left hand side on the corner of Bishop Allen Drive and Essex Street. There are public parking lots and metered street parking on Bishop Allen Drive.
BY CAR (Via Mass Ave. Bridge)
After crossing the Charles River, pass MIT on the right and stay on Mass Ave. In approximately 1/4 mile, you will come to a set of lights at the beginning of a commercial area. A fire station will be on your left. Turn right onto Columbia Street. Proceed straight to the flashing yellow light and take a left onto Bishop Allen Drive. Proceed straight ahead. #99 is the brick building on the left hand side on the corner of Bishop Allen Drive and Essex Street. There are public parking lots and metered street parking on Bishop Allen Drive.
BY MBTA – Red Line
Get off the train at the Central Square station. When you come up onto Mass Ave., walk down Essex Street one block. #99 is the brick building on the corner of Bishop Allen Drive and Essex Street.

BY CAR (from Downtown Boston) Via Storrow Drive
Take Storrow Drive outbound and get off at Mass Ave. and head toward Cambridge/Harvard Square. Approximately 1/2-3/4 of a mile from the Mass Ave. Bridge, you will come to a large intersection (Fire Station on your left). At the light, take a right onto Columbia Street (Bioran is on left corner and Chinese restaurant is on right corner). Go one block to the flashing yellow light and take a right onto Bishop Allen Drive. The Cambridge Shelter is the large gray-blue building to the left of the fork in the road. There are general metered parking spaces available near the corner of Columbia or just after you take the right turn.
BY MBTA – Red Line
Get off the train at the Central Square station. When you come up onto Mass Ave., walk toward the Charles River and MIT (this is away from the main Central Square intersection of Mass Ave and Prospect Street). Walk approximately 3-4 blocks and turn left onto Columbia Street at the lights by the Fire Station. Follow above directions.

BY CAR (From Downtown Boston) Via Mass Ave.
Get onto Mass Ave. heading south; cross Route 9/Huntington Avenue, Columbus Avenue, Tremont Street and Washington Street. #656 is in the block between Washington Street and Harrison Avenue approximately ¼ of the way down from Washington. The doorway is wooden oak in color and the building is numbered. There is limited parking for visitors in the first part of the block (when heading south) across from the shelter. You can also park on Washington Street.
BY CAR (From Route 93)
Take the Mass Ave. exit from Route 93 (Southeast Expressway). At the end of the exit, turn right onto Mass Ave. Proceed straight on Mass Ave., crossing Harrison Avenue. The Boston Family Shelter is in the block between Harrison Avenue and Washington Street. See above for details.
BY MBTA – Orange Line
Take the Orange Line outbound to Forest Hills and get off the train at the Mass Ave. station. Walk southbound on Mass Ave. (away from Huntington Avenue/Symphony Hall) 3-4 blocks. The Boston Family Shelter is located in the block between Washington Street and Harrison Avenue on the left side of Mass Ave. See above for details.

BY CAR (From Route 93)
Take Route 93 north (from Boston) or south (from Route 128) and take the Route 60 Exit. At the bottom of the exit ramp follow the signs for Route 60 east towards Malden and Everett. This is also Salem Street. Follow Salem Street to the fourth street on your right, Park Street, and take a right. There is a dark green building with Victorian era turrets at the corner. Go one block down Park Street and take the first left onto Central Avenue. The Medford Center is the large light gray Victorian building at the corner of Park and Central with the entrance through the gate on Central Avenue.
