Annual Meeting

On Wednesday, December 5, 2007, Shelter held its Annual Meeting at the Harvard Club of Boston. With approximately 200 guests in attendance the event showcased the viewing of the new dvd that highlights Shelter's mission. The meeting included the following presentations:
Employee of the Year Award presented to
Maria Martin in recognition of her "going above and beyond" for the residents of the Boston Family Shelter. Shelter appreciates her warmth, dedication and commitment to the families and mission of Shelter.
Community Partner Award presented to Home Start for the hard work and tireless dedication of its Cambridge office, and for their generosity of time, spirit and resources in our combined effort to end homelessness.
Special Appreciation Award presented to
David Begelfer and
NAIOP in recognition of NAIOP's 19 years of supporting affordable housing and raising more than $1.1 million for the homeless citizens of Greater Boston. Shelter is proud to count David Begelfer and NAIOP as our partners in the effort to end homelessness for good.
Finally, there was a premiere presentation of the William E. "Bo" Holland Public Service Award presented to first recipient Mayor Thomas Menino.
The award is named after longtime public servant William E. "Bo" Holland who dedicated his life to serving the people of Greater Boston. "He believed that government should be there to help people" said Mayor Menino and Bo embodied that statement not only through his service to the community, but through his service to Shelter.
Shelter is proud to establish this award in his memory. This award will be presented to individuals who exemplify the high standard that is Bo's legacy.
